The Gluckstadt Madison Business Alliance donated $6000 to the Gluckstadt Police Department to go toward the purchase of a Police Dog. Funds were raised at their first Golf Tournament - the Stadt Scramble.
"Our mission is growing business and strengthening community," said Elizabeth Tyler, Executive Director. "With the city being new, we wanted to do something that would benefit the whole community."
Through their involvement with the city, the Business Alliance heard that money
had already been donated toward the purchase of a Police Dog. "This was a perfect fit," said Tyler.
"A K9 plays a very important role in law enforcement," said Gluckstadt Police Chief Wendell Watts. "Being able to start a police department from the ground up is a monumental task, to say the least, but being able to purchase our very first K9 will be a history making event for the City of Gluckstadt's new police department."
"On behalf of the City of Gluckstadt, I want to express my gratitude to the GMBA for its tireless efforts in support of the City, its businesses and residents," said Mayor Walter Morrison. "This donation is a perfect example of a private-public partnership working toward the common good. Thanks to all who made this happen."
